Tour de France

One of things on Lew's Bucket List was to follow the Tour de France for a few days. We joined a tour that also included having a ride everyday, not just relaxing rides thru Lovely French villages! Well it included them but one of the days included 2 climbs, one 6km  and then the next 10 km! (I went in the support vehicle and took photos)1 day it was on the actual course a few hours before the tour went thru, another day it was on a course that they'd done on a previous tour, and then some in the area of the tour. We had a look at different stages. It's amazing to see how big an operation it is! And how many people get out to follow it, people walk into the different stages for miles!

This was our group with 4 of the guides

We stayed in this beautiful hotel for a couple of nights, unfortunately we didn't spend much time there to enjoy it.

Off on their 1st ride. Lew smiled in every photo I think no matter how much pain he was feeling :-)

They cycled thru lots of beautiful French Villages

Getting ready to head off

This is Wiggins the overall winner

The big screen was set up to watch the end, Wiggins is to the right

Francisco was from Boston

Getting ready to ride some of the Official Route

Coming up to a summit with a smile

There was plenty of support for the riders all the way. This is on the route before The Tour came thru

Go Lewy :-)

Down hill into a village
We're in France and the riders will cross the river into Switzerland
Sitting about to have lunch and watching the riders come thru
The Tour about to come thru. There were heaps of support cars and motor bikes, along with the cars that carried the spare bikes

The peloton wasn't very big due to the hills

This was at the time trial

I think you're a little big Lewy
Getting ready for the last days ride

Breakfast before we said bye

We stayed in a lovely Hotel in the French City Beaune

We went for a wander around the old city to see the sights

The entrance to the Old City

My favourite French Tart:-) The little sign was even made out of chocolate:-) Delicious
Amazing with all the white buildings

I loved the trees

Beautiful baskets
There were lots of Hydrangeas out

Driving thru to Switzerland we passed lots of beautiful sights:-) Fields of Sunflowers

I loved the colour of the wheat. I missed taking an awesome shot of the same colour hay bales with the sun on it as we drove past! Didn't get my Hubby to stop in time!
